Meeting Agenda
- Ranks. This will essentially be a culmination/continuation of the discussion on Promotions from the forum. At the end, it'd be nice to have a rough consensus on what the blueprint should be.
- Drama Handling. A continuation of the forum conversations Blueprints for mitigating drama and Can people get kicked out, and how does that happen?. At the end, it'd be nice to have a rough consensus on what the blueprint should be.
- Website Development. Topics like making the site public, domain name options, and development options.
- Graphic Design.
Meeting Notes
Charlimangy attended the meeting and joined the guild! There was much rejoicing.
We also discussed the issue of ranks at length, and arrived at a basic blueprint for promotions:
- When someone joins the guild, they're at Stowaway and have few privileges, because this rank is intended for people that we don't necessarily know well enough to trust them not to e.g. steal everything from our guild bank and then /gquit.
- If the Stowaway decides that they really like us and would like to become a full member, giving them essentially unlimited access to the guild bank, the ability to invite/kick, and so forth, then they should talk to a Lieutenant (full member). This being a blueprint, there aren't any hard-and-fast rules for what happens next, but the Lieutenant is expected to use their best judgement in promoting the person to Gunner. If they're not sure, they're encouraged to consult other Lieutenants for advice. At this point, the Stowaway should also be encouraged to explore our guild's website if they haven't already, and make a forum post introducing themselves. If they choose not to do this, then the Lieutenant promoting them is encouraged to make such a post; either way, the goal is for the rest of the guild to be aware that someone wants to become a full member.
- The Gunner rank itself provides almost as many privileges as the Lieutenant rank and is intended to be a sort of "trial period" during which time the prospective member has a lot of power and the freedom to abuse it. This rank is intended to be temporary; while many folks will be happy staying in the guild long-term as Stowaways and others will be fine as Lieutenants, Gunner is a transitional rank. The goal, as Mori put it, is to ensure that there are as few Gunners as possible at any given time.
- If the Gunner or a Lieutenant feels that they are ready to become a full member, then one of them should post to the forums stating as much. At this point, a discussion should take place about the candidate's appropriateness for the guild. Exactly where this discussion should take place was the topic of much debate, and closely related to the issues of how to handle guild drama. The remainder was discussed on a forum thread.
Additionally, Komodo/Rossiya suggested renaming the "Gunner" rank to "Scurvy Dog".
It was also agreed that www.perenolde-consensus.org would be the domain name for the guild.
It was also mentioned that any designs for our website to replace our current one are welcome. Mareyn and Karin, among others, are willing to help integrate designs into the website itself. Anyone interested in doing this is encouraged to contact Karin or Mareyn or post to the forums.
