Guild Bank
Philosophy
Members have unlimited access to all money and items in the guild bank. This is guided by the philosophy embodied in the following:
- "If you lend someone twenty bucks and you never see them again, it was probably worth it."
Meaning it is worth it for us to lose something if we learn about people exhibiting behaviors we'd prefer weren't part of Consensus. At least we knew we trusted them to start with, they didn't live up to that trust, and are now not desirable guild members.
Money
Money in the guild bank is money that is out of circulation from guild members at that moment. Therefore, we desire to maintain as low a balance as possible.
Our target funding level now is 1000g. Anything above this means we could use ideas and volunteers to come up with games, contests, events, etc to redistribute this money back into the hands of our members. Please start a forum thread if you want to do something to help. Be creative!
Items
The guild bank is intended to maximize the flow of items from those who have them to those who can use them. This means that taking items out is equally important as receiving items. Please regularly take what you can use!
Everyone is encouraged to help this process by installing the RedBanker and GuildNote addons. These will let you see which members of the guild can theoretically use any item in your inventory by mousing over it, which you can then mail directly to them. This bypasses the guild bank altogether, and is the fastest way to redistribute items and is therefore ideal. Feel free to place any other items in the guild bank.
Bank tabs:
- Leveling - Weapons, armor, potions, etc
- Tradeskills - Recipes and trade goods
- Quest & Rep - Reputation and quest related items
- Roleplaying - Fun/novelty items
Helping run the bank
If you are so inclined, feel free to remove items from the guild bank you think aren't useful. Consider selling them (auction house, vendor, etc) and depositing the proceeds.
Other useful things may include farming for the guild bank, taking money out so you can buy stuff from the AH you think are useful to have in the guild bank, etc. Again, be creative! Your efforts are immensely appreciated by your fellow guild members.
