Achievement System - Consensus

Achievement System

Guild achievements

(From Mori's forum post...)

This is something Blizzard has talked about implementing, but I also think it would be fun to make our own. Maybe they would even be related to the Paths to Glory so that in essence the paths were "competing" against each other (and maybe the winning path gets to plan the big event for the next month or 3 months or however often we do events).

These would be things like: Have X number of forum posts, have three 10 man raid groups, hold 10 guild related events a month, have an all-guild battleground, etc.

Achievements could be displayed on our front page so that people can tell at a glance what we are doing.

Some problems I see with my own ideas that I don't know how to fix:

  1. This kind of system might be intimidating to people who join the guild, because after say.... 2 months everyone who is here and wants to be could have moved up one or more paths.
  2. Points might be taken to represent the "value" that person x has in the guild and if person y has less points people might not think they are as valuable. This is the danger with having what is essentially no leadership, people will pick their own criteria by which to judge who is important and who is not.
  3. Even though all of the activities I've described above are things that people do while they play the game (unless they just log in and sit in Shattrah looking around and not talking to anyone, which I guess is possible), people might be put off by thinking that they "have" to do certain things. This may be easily fixable by some clear wording in how we describe things, but it may not.

Karin has proposed a slightly different achievement system in this forum thread.
